Aerosmith, Cheap Trick Members Pay Tribute To Football

Blabbermouth.net, NY
June 30, 2006

World Entertainment News Network is reporting that Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, Cheap Trick star Rick Nielsen and members of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band have formed a supergroup with country maverick Hank Williams Jr. to pay tribute to American football.

The unnamed group, which also features fiddler Charlie Daniels and The Roots star Questlove, has recorded several versions of Williams' "All My Rowdy Friends Are Here On Monday Night", which will be used as the theme to cable sports channel ESPN's "Monday Night Football" coverage later this year.

Joe Perry Interview

Boston Globe, MA
June 30, 2006

It's summer, and the Aerosmith hive is buzzing with activity. In the midst of gearing up for a new tour that will hit the Tweeter Center in September with Motley Crue, guitarist Joe Perry is taking a little time to support some fellow musicians.

After seeing "The Refugee Allstars: A Documentary Film," Perry offered to sponsor an appearance by the Sierra Leonean band tonight at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Woodstock, Vt., near his home . The group -- which creates a buoyant mix of African, reggae, blues, and pop sounds on its debut, "Living Like a Refugee" -- is composed of six musicians all forced from their homes by the bloody, decade-long civil war in Sierra Leone. The award-winning film documents how they came together to form a band in desperate circumstances.

Of course, Perry is also getting his tux pressed for his and bandmate Steven Tyler's appearance with the Boston Pops on July Fourth and is hard at work on Aerosmith's 15th studio album.

We checked in to chat about the many Joe Perry projects going on.

Since it hasn't been in wide release, how did you happen to see "The Refugee Allstars: A Documentary Film"?

In Woodstock. It's just a really energetic town when it comes to the arts. The film was shown over the winter and when (my wife) Billie and I saw it we were just amazed at the energy and the hope and the dreams that these musicians had to be able to cut a record in spite of what was going on all around them -- just trying to keep body and soul together. It was just very moving. And on top of that, they're really a good band.

What prompted the sponsorship?

When the filmmakers (Zach Niles and Banker White ) did their question- and- answer period afterward, they talked about possibly being able to bring the band over to the States. And when there were some dates available for them to play up in Woodstock, we jumped at the chance. They asked us for a contribution and we just said, "Send us the bill." It just feels good to be able to help in their greater scheme of how they're making ends meet and bring the message. Because it's really an astounding thing that they've done. There are a lot of places in Africa that need help and this case brings the spotlight over to Sierra Leone.

Will you go to the show and maybe sit in for a number?

Oh , definitely. Sitting in is another story. That's always up to the guys that own the stage at that hour. All I care about is the fact that they're going to get to play in our neck of the woods.

You'll perform with the Pops on Tuesday. Do you know what you and Steven Tyler will be playing yet?

I know we're going to do "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" and "Dream On" and the third song we're still not sure yet because it's more of a rocker and we're working with (Pops conductor) Keith (Lockhart) on that as far as what's going to work the best for both so it carries across.

You've been in major television situations before like the Super Bowl , so is this July Fourth show a big deal for you?

It is for a lot of reasons. One, it's celebrating the Fourth of July in the heart of where you celebrate the Fourth of July. This is the seat of rebellion, this is the seat of freedom. And to celebrate the Fourth of July here is the ultimate, and then to be part of it and to work with Keith Lockhart and the Pops is, on a lot of different levels, an exciting thing.

Do you normally watch the Pops show? When we can. Very often we're working on the Fourth.

I remember one year we had done a late afternoon gig and we were flying in on a private plane and we flew in low over the fireworks and so we saw it from a very unique perspective that night.

How's the new album coming?

We have probably 15 songs in different states of readiness. We had originally thought we could get it done before the tour started, but with various things getting thrown in during the summer it just isn't possible. But we will have a pretty good head start on it when we start working in January. We're definitely going to look at it for a late spring, early summer release.

The Refugee Allstars play the Unitarian Universalist Church in Woodstock, Vt., tonight. Call 802-457-2557 for more information. Joe Perry and Steven Tyler appear on "The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular" on July Fourth on CBS at 10.

Aerosmith Gets Orchestral For Independence Day

Billboard.com
June 29, 2006

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry will join the Boston Pops for a Tuesday (July 4) concert on the city's Charles River Esplanade. The event will air live on CBS and will be hosted by Dr. Phil McGraw and his wife Robin. Tyler and Perry are slated to perform several Aerosmith tracks with the orchestra.

The group is nearing completion on the first phase of work on its new studio album, which should be out in the late spring or early summer of 2007. "We're winding down the recording next week to start focusing on the Motley Crue tour and how we'll present that," Perry tells Billboard.com. "Then we'll take a couple of weeks off and start swinging into rehearsals."

"We've just been hammering away at some of these songs to try and figure out which tunes we can get close to being done," Perry adds. "We've floated the idea of putting one or two songs up on the Internet as a taste of what's to come."

Perry says once the Motley Crue tour wraps in December, the band will return to the studio to finish the album. A summer 2007 tour is also in the cards.

Perry Throws Support Behind Sierra Leone Refugees

Billboard.com
June 29, 2006

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry is sponsoring a performance tomorrow (June 30) by the Refugee All Stars Of Sierra Leone in Woodstock, Vt., where he owns a farm. The musicians were the subject of the 2005 documentary "Refugee All Stars," which chronicled their formation in an African refugee camp and subsequent rise to international acclaim.

Perry and his wife were so inspired by the film that they jumped at the chance to expand the All Stars' summer North American tour itinerary. "As it turns out, they had some dates available to play up in this area," Perry tells Billboard.com. "The producers were asking around to see if they could get some funding, and asked my wife and I for a contribution. We just said, 'Give us the bill. We'll take care of it.' We want to help, if even in a small way."

"I was just so overwhelmed by the movie and the message of hope they're carrying," he continues. "The music is so buoyant and joyful."

The All Stars will be on tour in North America through late July and will also perform July 29-30 at Japan's Fuji Rock Festival.

Joe Perry Comments About Refugee All-Stars

Boston Herald, MA
June 29, 2006

Straight from Sierra Leone, the Refugee All-Stars are playing Woodstock tomorrow.

Aerosmith ax man Joe Perry and wife, Billie, who were blown away by a documentary about the Refugees, are sponsoring the guys’ gig on the lawn of the Unitarian Church in Woodstock, Vt.

“It’s really an amazing story,” Perry told the Track. “They formed the band in a refugee camp in 2001 where they lived in horrendous conditions. That’s where the filmmaker found them and started following them around.”

“They got a record out and scraped together some funding to tour, but they needed other sponsors, so we’re bringing them into Vermont,” said Joe, a part-time Green Mountain man.

The documentary about the band, aptly named “The Refugee All-Stars,” will screen tonight in downtown Woodstock.

Do check it out if you’re up that way.

Joe Perry Backing Gig By West African Musicians On Friday

Blabbermouth.net, NY
June 28, 2006

Launch Radio Networks reports: Thanks to Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry, a group of West African musicians known as The Refugee All Stars has a place to play on Friday (June 30). Perry told Launch that it all started over the winter in Woodstock, Vermont, when he and his wife saw a documentary about the group. "We saw this film about this band called The Refugee All Stars, who through the trials and tribulations — and tribulations being a euphemism for some of the most horrendous conditions you can imagine — managed to have a band while they were actually living in a refugee camp," he said. "They had some dates open, and they needed a sponsor to get up and play in Woodstock, and my wife and I just said, 'How much will it be?' They told us, and we wrote the check."

The Refugee All Stars are a group of musicians from Sierra Leone who, like many of their countrymen, wound up in refugee camps in neighboring Guinea because of the civil war that raged for more than 10 years.

Thanks to the Perrys, the film The Refugee All Stars" will be shown again in Woodstock tomorrow (Thursday, June 29), and the band will perform Friday at the Unitarian Universalist Church in the town. Perry hasn't met the group yet, but he plans to be at the gig.

Aerosmith Vocalist Featured on Keith Anderson's New Single

CMT.com
June 27, 2006

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler makes a guest appearance on Keith Anderson's new single, the title track from his debut album, Three Chord Country and American Rock & Roll. The album was produced by Big & Rich's John Rich, but the single being released was remixed by producer Mark Hudson, who added Tyler's vocal. Hudson got the idea after noticing a reference to Aerosmith in the song's lyrics. "Steven is a huge country fan," Hudson says. "He actually turned me on to Kitty Wells, stuff like that. We've had many conversations about the elements of how rock 'n' roll began, and it really did begin with country -- folks like Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Chet Atkins." Anderson notes, "Oh, my gosh. When I saw the video of him singing what I wrote, it was such a thrill."

Inside Track - Celebs, pols go down the Rhode for Providence premiere

A bunch of Bay State actors who scored roles in ‘Brotherhood,’ the set-in-Providence Showtime series, rubbed elbows last night with Rhode Island power-brokers at the series’ premiere at the Avon Cinema on Thayer Street. An after-party was held at the Waterplace Restaurant.

Leading man Jason Clarke, who plays the political ‘good brother’ in the Brothers Bulger-ish drama, was on hand for the applause with Dorchester homey Kevin Chapman; Charlestown’s Tony V; Bates Wilder of Scituate; Milton homey Tom Kemp; Fall River’s Billy Silvia and Brian Scannell of West Roxbury.

Little Rhody Lt. Gov. Charles Fogarty, a slew of state reps and senators, Providence Mayor David Cicilline and more Federal Hill homeys than could fit in a tiny theater also made the scene. But the party really got rockin’ when Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford, drummer Joey Kramer and their S.O.s, Kimberly Orders and April Kramer came to cheer on their friend Chappy. ‘Brotherhood’ debuts July 9 at 10 p.m.

Eddie Trunk Reports

EddieTrunk.com/Radio
June 23, 2006

Just returned from Boston where I hosted a one hour live national radio special with all 5 members of Aerosmith from Joe Perry's home studio. Aerosmith were always one of my all time favorite bands. As a kid I had the Live Bootleg poster on my wall, and here I am being personally selected by the band themselves to conduct this broadcast to announce their upcoming tour with Motley Crue. It is a night I will never forget and it all came down somewhat last minute. I flew to Boston 6/22 and went directly to Joe Perry's house. We pulled up to the gate and saw Joe doing some things around the yard. Joe is the only member of the band I really know from my satellite radio interview with him about a year ago. Joe pointed us to his studio (he has a great farmhouse with lot's of property) which was in the basement of his home. The last few band albums and his solo album were recorded here. It was about an hour before air time so he took me on a tour of the place showing me the studio and all his gear and guitars. "Joe Perry is giving me a tour of his place" is all I was saying in my head, only half absorbing what he was saying! The other guys showed up and I had a great time with all of them. Steven Tyler acted as if he'd known me for years and was really pleased they picked me for this moment. He said they listened to many tapes that were submitted but knew I was the right guy. Total honor to say the least! Steven joked with me on and off the air and was a blast to hang with, as were all the guys. So many things we discussed on and off the air (G&R, old Aerosmith songs, Joe Perry Project, Rock In A Hard Place, Whitford/St. Holmes, the next tour, etc), I was in my glory. Once we were on the air, the time went by in a second. We took live calls from all over the USA and the vibe was great. It's important to note that time was limited (50 minutes after commercials, plus music) so I didn't get to really do "my" style interview, but the response was great and hopefully we can do that interview somewhere down the road. I'll share more stories on the air. A sincere thanks to Joe (thanks for the hot sauce!), Steven, Brad, Tom and Joey for having me. Also thanks to Sal from Premiere Radio, John Bionelli and the entire Aerosmith crew and Bob Buchmann at Q104. A night I will never forget! Check out the photo on the site.

Aerosmith in classic frame of mind on new album

Reuters/Billboard
June 23, 2006

Aerosmith is in the thick of work on its new studio album, and the process has not been hindered by vocalist Steven Tyler's recent throat surgery, according to guitarist Joe Perry.

"He's sounding better than ever," Perry told Billboard.com. "Even just listening to him talk, his voice has this timbre that I haven't heard for years."

In addition to considering material from outside songwriters, Aerosmith is looking to its archives for inspiration as it records the album, which should be out in spring 2007 via Columbia.

"There's some stuff we left off certain records that we've been scratching our heads over why that happened," Perry said. "There's also bits and pieces of things we haven't got to, and some stuff from (the 2004 blues album) 'Honkin' on Bobo' that never got finished. We want to bring some of the elements of the experimenting we've done on the albums over the last few years and mash that in with that 'Honkin' on Bobo' kind of energy."

By way of describing the method to Aerosmith's madness in the studio, Perry said that "it's kind of like the old story of the 100-year-old hammer handed down for three generations. The handle has been changed three times, and the head changed four. For us, we're the same old hammer, but updated a few times."

He added, "Some songs are still two riffs and a chorus, but they're classic Aerosmith: a guitar riff and the vocals and the slammin' rhythm section. Some of the material could have been written last week or 10 or 20 years ago. It's funny how some of it sounds like that to me. Some of it has bell bottoms and big hair, but it's surprising how well it fits today's playlists."

Perry said he can't wait to hit the road with Motley Crue on the the Route of All Evil tour, which begins September 14 in Holmdel, N.J. "In some ways Motley Crue is like a baby band to me," he says. "You still think of them as kids. But they have gone through all the things bands go through, come back and they have a whole batch of fans who saw them at the first rock show they ever went to. When you turn on classic rock radio now, you have Motley Crue, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin and the Stones."

In addition, Perry promises that Aerosmith will be dusting off a song or two from its back catalog, similar to "Seasons of Wither" and "Draw the Line," which have come back from the dead on recent tours.

"Other songs will get that day in the sun, because they never did," he said. "Maybe other songs crowded them out. In the late '80s and early '90s, we had those singles to play and there wasn't as much interest from the fans in those songs. But there are fans that are now discovering some of those early records."

Aerosmith members to join Pops on July 4

Boston Globe, MA
June 23, 2006

Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry will headline this year's nationally televised Boston Pops concert on the Esplanade on July Fourth.

Yesterday's announcement, made by David Mugar, the show's executive producer, and con-firmed by CBS, came a day after Mugar complained to the Globe that CBS had yet to sign a headliner for the high-profile show. Mugar said he was relieved yesterday, and that he didn't regret voicing his frustration with the network.

"If talent had been secured two months ago, which is very reasonable, we would have been listed in TV Guide, we would have had a shot at the Sunday television magazines, we could have had all sorts of advance publicity," said Mugar. "We have unfortunately missed a great opportunity to attract a much larger audience."

CBS, which has booked the talent for the program since 2003, has typically announced a headliner within two weeks of the concert at the Hatch Shell.

"We're baffled by his remarks and decline further comment," said CBS spokesman Phil Gonzales.

This isn't the first time Aerosmith's leaders, singer Tyler and guitarist Perry, have been wooed by the Esplanade concert organizers. In 2004, an attempt to sign up Aerosmith fizzled when the band couldn't work out a way to play Boston between the end of its North American tour and the start of its dates in Japan.

"It just didn't come together, but Steve Tyler and I were talking, and we want to make it happen at some point," Pops conductor Keith Lockhart said at the time.

That year, former Van Halen singer David Lee Roth performed with the Pops. Last year, the Pops went with a country theme, booking irreverent duo Big & Rich and Grammy winner Gretchen Wilson.

In a statement yesterday, Lockhart said : "I've been saying for a long time that Boston's two favorite bands really needed to join forces for this event, and I'm so happy we finally get to do it this year."

Joe Perry Comments About Upcoming Tour

Billboard, NY
June 21, 2006

Enduring rock acts Aerosmith and Motley Crue are teaming for the first time for a fall tour, which will begin Sept. 14 in Holmdel, N.J. The Route of All Evil tour will run for more than two months before wrapping Nov. 24 in West Palm Beach, Fla....

"It's going to be quite a trip," Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry tells Billboard.com of the pairing. "I still remember when Motley Crue's first record came out. It was exciting to see them blossom. I saw them play a couple small places in L.A. and then at the Santa Monica Civic Center headlining. It was that incredible rush of when you first break. They really put on a rock show in capital letters. It is always inspiring to play with a band like that."

It's 1989, Yo: Motley Crue, Aerosmith Touring Together This Fall

MTV.com
June 21, 2006

In September 1989, Mötley Crüe were introducing the country to Dr. Feelgood and Aerosmith were packing record stores with some extra Pump. This September, they'll be bringing songs from that era and beyond to concert venues across North America.

That's right: Two of rock's hardest-livin', hardest-rockin' acts ever are hooking up for the colossal, 27-date Route of All Evil Tour.

The bands ended weeks of speculation and Internet rumor Tuesday afternoon (June 20) by announcing plans for their Evil run, scheduled to kick off September 14 in Holmdel, New Jersey. The trek will make stops at outdoor amphitheatres in Cincinnati, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Dallas, before grinding to a halt in West Palm Beach, Florida, November 24.

The first handful of Evil tickets goes on sale Saturday.

With both bands' original lineups intact, the jaunt marks the first time these veteran bad boys have traveled the nation together.

Aerosmith — who are still supporting their live record from last year, Rockin' the Joint — will plunge themselves headfirst into the audience during each night of the road trip. The band is erecting a 70-foot-long ramp that will extend from the stage into the middle of the arena, giving fans an up-close-and-personal experience.

Meanwhile, the Crüe — who're coming off one of 2005's most successful tours — promise to roll out monstrous new production and tons of additional pyrotechnics so that fans who caught their Carnival of Sins Tour can expect a completely new experience this time around.

Aerosmith Return To The Road: "Route Of All Evil Tour"

MSO - Press Release
June 20, 2006

With Motley Crue

The Ultimate Must-See Rock Event Of 2006:
Massive National Tour Gets Underway September 14

This is the Big One... "Route Of All Evil Tour."

Aerosmith--America’s Greatest Rock’ N’ Roll Band--will return to the road September 14 with Motley Crue--America’s Most Notorious Rock Band--to spawn what is the ultimate must-see rock event of 2006: a massive North American tour of predominantly outdoor amphitheatres. Bigger, louder, faster, and harder than what rock fans have experienced before, the tour gets underway in Holmdel, NJ and lasts through November 24 in West Palm Beach, FL. With each band featuring all their original members, this marks the first time that rock’s bad boys have embarked on a tour together.

The first few dates of the Live Nation-produced tour--Camden, NJ, Boston, Washington, Tinley Park, IL, East Troy, WI and Detroit--go on sale June 24. Two more shows (Holmdel, NJ and Jones Beach, NY) go up June 26. Other on-sale information is TBA.

For the tour, Aerosmith--Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer--will thrust themselves into the middle of the audience, turning the seats along the 70-foot-long ramp into one big front row experience that will enable fans to get up close and personal with rock’s quintessential live act. Aerosmith were most recently on the road with their hugely successful and wildly acclaimed “Rockin’ The Joint” tour, which packed arenas from October ’05 through February ’06 in what critics called “an exultant return,” “a wet, wild and totally sweat-filled night” and “a testosterone-charged set of their patented blues-soaked rock.”

Coming off one of the most successful tours of 2005, Motley Crue is bringing a whole new bag of tricks out this year, with massive production and pyro, determined to out-do themselves in the decadent Mötley fashion. Major surprises are in store from the world’s most infamous rock band. “As comebacks go, this one is monstrous,” Rolling Stone said of their wildly successful Red, White & Crue tour, and this year proves to be even bigger.

About Aerosmith:

For more than 30 years, Aerosmith has defined American Rock 'n' Roll. Just a brief overview of their remarkable career is truly mind-boggling: over 100 million albums sold, induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, countless awards (4 Grammy Awards, 8 American Music Awards, 6 Billboard Awards, and 12 MTV Awards), and a diehard “Blue Army” fan-base numbering in the millions worldwide. The members of Aerosmith remain creatively vital, and are the platinum standard for artistic and commercial success in the music business. Through it all they have defeated the odds, silenced their critics and have undeniably withstood the test of time. The most convenient way for fan club members to buy tickets and access tour information is through the AF1 web site, www.aeroforceone.com. AF1 members can purchase a variety of fan experience packages that include tickets, backstage tours, pre-concert parties with prizes, and exclusive AF1 memorabilia.

About Mötley Crüe:

Rock's most notorious bad boys, Motley Crue, have sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, documented their quintessentially decadent lifestyle in their best-selling 2001 autobiography and soon-to-be feature film, The Dirt, and had one of the top-grossing tours of 2005, with all four original members reuniting to play before an estimated one million people in the U.S. Tommy Lee, Mick Mars, Vince Neil and Nikki Sixx first joined forces in 1981, their albums generating such iconic singles as "Smokin' in the Boys Room," "Girls Girls Girls," "Dr. Feelgood" and "Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)." As one of the most indulgent bands in history, their reckless lifestyle eventually took its toll, and they disbanded in 1999. With their reunion six years later, Mötley Crüe released the double-platinum Red, White & Crüe and spent most of 2005 on the road for their "Carnival of Sins" tour. Legendary A&R Exec John Kalodner To Retire

Billboard.biz
June 19, 2006

A&R executive John Kalodner is retiring after 35 years in the music business, effective June 20. Kalodner, whose tenure spanned posts at Atlantic, Geffen, Columbia and, most recently, Sanctuary, was legendary for discovering, signing and working with a wide array of artists, and for his signature style—trademark John Lennon glasses, long hair and beard and always wearing white.

After a stint as a music writer for the Philadelphia Bulletin, he joined Atlantic's publicity department in 1974, but quickly moved to the A&R department the next year. Among his first signings was Foreigner.

While at Geffen, Kalodner is credited with reviving Aerosmith and Cher's careers. Among the many other acts he worked with are Genesis, Phil Collins, Yes, AC/DC, Santana, Bon Jovi, XTC, Shawn Colvin, Yes, Peter Gabriel, Whitesnake and countless others.

Kalodner exclusively tells Billboard.biz there are no immediate future plans. "I didn't want to announce the formation of a management company or a publishing company, just that I want to retire from the business I loved."

Aerosmith Eatery Rumor Is Tabled

Boston Globe, MA
June 16, 2006

Is Aerosmith opening another restaurant? The word around Needham is that the Boston rockers, who already own Mount Blue Restaurant in Norwell, are big investors in an eatery that is about to open across from the Needham Heights T station. Sandy Cincotta, assistant to the town manager in Needham, said she's heard the rumors, but, as far as she knows, neither Steven Tyler nor Joe Perry are involved in the new place, Blue on Highland. "There may be friendships, but they're not involved," said Cincotta. The band's publicist had no comment. . . .

Greetings From Orlando

All Photos/Captions - John Bionelli

Joe took part in the new opening theme song for Monday Night Football. Last Friday he recorded his part at the Boneyard with assistance from his long time tech Jim Survis and new assistant engineer Jon Lammi. Rumor has it Lammi once donned the blonde wig and played the part of Tom Hamilton in the Aerosmith cover band "Draw the Line." He has since been dubbed "Lamilton."

Joe put down about 18 solo's and narrowed it down to 3. Little Steven Van Zant was the music director for the project and called Joe and asked him to be part of it. Joe flew down to Orlando on Tuesday landing at 11:30am and in front of the cameras by 1:00pm. It was an absolute blast! Bocephus himself was in the house along with Charlie Daniels (who gave Joe his bow) Rick Nielsen, Bernie Worrell and Bootsy Collins, Little Richard and of course Little Steven (Dante Silvio) Van Zant.

The whole shoot took about 12 hours to film but it was the camaraderie and conversations that took place in between takes that were priceless. Up in the dressing room area Charlie Daniel's was talking to Hank Williams about a song idea and he asked if anyone had a guitar. Joe graciously passed him his Billie guitar and Charlie belted out a future country classic to Hank. He then posed for a picture for yours truly as I had to document this once in a lifetime moment. I have never seen anyone else play that baby! Rick Nielsen came with his new "Rockford" guitar and a "Joe Perry" T-shirt. If you get a chance pick up Cheap Trick's new album. It is the best CT album since One on One. Joe spent a lot of time chatting with James Brown and George Clinton alum "Bootsy Collins" as well as P-Funker Bernie Worrell. He then compared shoes with Little Richard. Hank Williams tore into "Walk this Way" to the delight of the crowd and nailed every word. If you have ever seen Bocephus in concert you probably have heard him perform the Aerosmith chestnut at the end of his show. It was a great little jaunt to the sunshine state and I am sure it will make Monday Night Football a little bit more exciting this year when it moves to ESPN.

On Wednesday Joe was on the first flight back to Boston and headed straight to the studio to meet up with Steven, Tom, Brad and Joey. He had Jim dust off his pedal steel guitar and he laid down a solo with it. Maybe hanging with all the country guys rubbed off on him.

I'm hearing a cross between Toys and Get a Grip this week! Rumor has it that tour dates with Motley Crue will be announced very soon so keep checking in!

See you on the Road!

John B.

The News Journal, DE

Hank Williams Jr., who has sung the theme for ABC's "Monday Night Football" since 1989, will continue the tradition next season on ESPN when the football institution moves to the cable network.

ESPN -- which has an eight-year deal for the Monday-night rights -- said that Williams will continue with a theme based on his hit "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight."

Williams will perform with a band that includes guitarists Rick Nielsen from Cheap Trick and Steven Van Zandt from the E Street Band; keyboardists Little Richard and Bernie Worrell from Parliament Funkadelic; fiddler Charlie Daniels; and saxophonist Clarence Clemons of the E Street Band.

The "Monday Night Football" opening video will feature team-specific lyrics and visuals each week...

News From The Studio

Aero Force One
June 9, 2006

Hey everyone!

The guys are all back banging away in the studio. It’s good to see all 5
guys in the same room doing what they do best. They should be recording
throughout the summer and then rumor has it, they’ll hit the road. What
they have laid down so far sounds great. It’s really rockin’ and “Rocks”
does come to mind. I will keep you posted on the ongoing.

Tom Hamilton - Master of the big bottom lays it down! --

As you all know it’s been a tough month or so in the Aero camp. We lost
a few family members. Paul Caruso has been hitting the record (and play)
button on every session since Just Push Play and he will be missed. Paul
was the backbone and backbeat on all of Joe’s solo recordings. He was a
great guy with a huge heart and a helluva drummer to boot.

We also lost Torri Wightman, the daughter of our Tour Co-coordinator
Donny Wightman. This beautiful 16-year-old lost her life in a car
accident late last month and we all miss her very much. The band signed
a guitar for an auction to benefit her school. It’s on eBay right now so
click on this link to check it out -- Aerosmith Signed Guitar

Don’t be fooled by other so-called signed guitars on eBay. I checked
them out and haven’t seen one that is real. Even ones that say they come
with an LOA or COA. This one however is the real deal and would look
great on a real fans wall.

Don't forget to check out the details on this amazing Aerosmith Signed Guitar!

See you on the road!

Aerosmith, Motley Crue: First US Date Announced

Blabbermouth.net, NY
June 8, 2006

Live Nation, the concert promotion company recently spun-off by radio giant Clear Channel, has confirmed via its web site that Aerosmith and Motley Crue will be teaming up for a U.S. tour this fall. So far, only one date has been released: Saturday, September 23 at the Tweeter Center at the Waterfront in Camden, New Jersey. Tickets go on sale Saturday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. More dates will be announced soon.

The first rumblings of a possible Aerosmith / Motley Crue pairing were heard in early January when Crue frontman Vince Neil revealed during an appearance on the "Opie and Anthony" show on XM Satellite Radio that the two bands would be hooking for a trek later in the year.

Aerosmith are currently recording their new album with producer Steve Lillywhite, who has previously worked with U2 and Morrissey. The band were forced to cancel a bunch of shows on their spring tour after singer Steven Tyler suffered a broken blood vessel in his voice box.

Motley Crue are believed to have commenced the songwriting/demoing process for their new studio album with producer Bob Rock, who previously worked with Crue on their "Dr. Feelgood" and self-titled albums, as well as the three new tracks that appeared on Crue's two-CD "greatest hits" collection, "Red, White & Crüe" (which came out in February 2005). An early 2007 release is expected.

Torri Wightman Scholarship Fund

eBay.com
June 8, 2006

America's greatest Rock Band Aerosmith, autographed this Gibson Epiphone Guitar in their Boston area Studio on 06/07/06. The Band is currently working on a new album there and took time out to sign this guitar for a wonderful cause. 100% of the proceeds from this auction will go to the "Torri Wightman Scholarship Fund" at SSCPS. Torri was the 16-year-old daughter of the Band's long time Tour Co-ordinator. She passed away on May 16. Torri was an avid guitar player and songwriter who grew up in the Aerosmith family. These pictures of Band members signing, document the authenticity of this guitar, and a letter of authenticity will also be provided to the lucky high bidder.

...Thomas, who is planning to shoot a concert DVD on June 28 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, and producer Matt Serletic are currently collaborating on a song, "Little Wonders," for the upcoming Disney feature "Meet the Robinsons." The artist has also submitted a song that's being considered for Aerosmith's next album. "But," he added, "just because you write a song doesn't mean it's going to wind up on a record..."
