Rock legend Steven Tyler has checked into rehab, according to U.S. reports.
The Aerosmith frontman checked in to Las Encinas Hospital, the rehab facility where TV celebrity doctor Dr. Drew practices in Pasadena, California, according to reports.
The 60-year-old star comes just a week after his actress daughter Liv Tyler confirmed that her marriage, to Brit rocker Royston Langdon, was over.
And it comes after more than 20 years of sobriety for the star who has admitted to serious drink and drug problems in his band's heyday in the 1970s.
Tyler was admitted for "substance abuse", according to news website TMZ. The site says Tyler's spokesperson had no comment when contacted.
Rehab will come as a shock to fans because Tyler has spoken with such pride at having become clean.
He says it was his Lord of the Rings star daughter Liv who made him kick his horrific drink and drug habit.
"Liv is possibly the biggest reason for me changing the way I lived," he once said. "She is a dream daughter."
Tyler and Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry were dubbed the Toxic Twins for their now legendary abuse of drugs, including heroin.
It sparked the downfall of the band, before they reformed in 1984. But Tyler was still too heavily into drugs - and his band forced him to seek help in rehab in 1986.
In September 2006, the Aerosmith frontman revealed that in 2003 he had been diagnosed with hepatitis C and had undergone 11 months of treatment.
After keeping quiet about the disease for so long, Tyler said at the time that he wanted to share his experience and knowledge with others.
