Concert season opens: Music for every taste

The Windsor Star, Canada
May 19, 2007

The Police and Genesis headline a diverse concert list of more than 90 summer shows announced this week by the Palace of Auburn Hills.

The Palace and the two outdoor amphitheatres under its supervision -- DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston and Meadow Brook Music Festival in Rochester -- have music for just about every taste, starting May 25 at DTE with traditional opener Eddie Money.

Because of changes in tour routing, there are no longer subscription series at DTE and Meadow Brook. All shows are sold separately or in packages of four. Some concerts have special $10 and $15 lawn tickets.

The schedule features the summer's two major rock reunions -- The Police on July 17, and Genesis on Sept. 30, both at the Palace -- and the first tour in years by Canada's Rush, August 28 at DTE.

Gordon Lightfoot returns after several years, Sept. 15 at Meadow Brook, while Barenaked Ladies head to DTE June 15.

Here's the list as of today. For prices, when shows go on sale, and package offers, go to www.palacenet.com. Ticket prices are also available in The Windsor Star's concert listings every Friday.

One concert date will be announced later -- Brad Paisley/Jack Ingram/Kellie Pickler/Taylor Swift at DTE.

Aerosmith will also perform at DTE, but a date and prices are still to be determined.

Other shows will be added in the coming weeks.
