To the editor:
The Friendship Home Board of Directors extends our deepest gratitude to everyone who made the 10th Annual Mt. Blue Summer Party fundraiser a huge success.
Excellent leadership was graciously and capably provided by Jayne Bowe from Mt. Blue, Joan Savarese, Elizabeth Spradlin, Debbie Rademacher, and Carol Sullivan from Friendship Home and more than 75 volunteers from Norwell and surrounding communities who worked tirelessly since February to plan and organize this special fundraising event.
Providing terrific entertainment throughout the evening - the party was held Monday, July 31 - was the South Shore Conservatory Jazz Ensemble, which featured Friendship Club's own Matt Kardok of Hingham on drums, with Ed Sorrentino and Alex Bourque from the Conservatory, rounded out by Ryan Caira, James Dow, and Dave Neves of Norwell.
Thanks also to Jim Carroll who flew in directly from Las Vegas and the renowned Joe Leary and Chris Fitz bands, who rocked the night away.
Many food and beverage vendors from the South Shore provided a wide array of tasty refreshments throughout the evening. Guests consistently raved about the variety and quality of their offerings.
We'd like to offer a special word of thanks to Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, whose gracious participation was especially welcomed by many members of the Friendship Home community.
Another highlight of the evening were the exceptional live and silent auctions, which included artwork, sporting tickets, handcrafted and gift items, and gift baskets and certificates. Dan Flynn of Daniel J. Flynn & Co., Inc. of Quincy was our auctioneer extraordinaire, making the live auction not only successful, but also fun! Our deepest appreciation goes out to all of our many donors whose contributions made for a high quality and interesting auction.
We would also like to thank Joyanne and Jon Bond of Bond Printing for their generous donation of all printed materials for this event, and to the members of the Norwell Visiting Nurse Assn. who made a special effort to enable their staff and guests to join us at Mt. Blue.
Finally, the Mt. Blue Summer Party was successful due to the efforts of so many caring people who contributed their time and talent. And, to the approximately 700 guests who attended, a special thanks for your generous support of our mission.
