Billboard Says: 90-Minute Sets

Billboard, NY
August 23, 2006

Even though Motley Crue has a feature film and a new album in the works, bassist Nikki Sixx says the band's upcoming co-headlining tour with Aerosmith was what really took him by surprise.

"I can't believe it," Sixx tells Billboard.com. "I'm excited but also kind of shocked. We toured for 14 months and now we're going right back on the road again? But for me, to go out with Aerosmith is something that is a dream come true."

The "Red, White and Crue Tour 2005 -- Better Live Than Dead" found the band performing its hits to a decidedly younger audience on a nightly basis. This new fan base is the reason Motley Crue jumped aboard the Route of all Evil Tour with Aerosmith, according to Sixx. The 34-date jaunt begins Sept. 5 in Columbus, Ohio. Each band will perform a 90-minute set, with Aerosmith closing the show every night.

"I think both bands work together great but they're different enough where it's not going to get boring," Sixx says. "It's quite a journey for both bands."

The Crue's journey is about to be transformed....
