Rocker’s pearls of wisdom in role of Barbara Bush

Aerosmith bass biggie Tom Hamilton, who appears frightened by the sight of former first lady Barbara Bush, will slap on a gray wig to play Dubya’s mom tomorrow night at the 11th annual “Banned in Boston” benefit at Avalon.
As you know, the Boston bad boy has had lots of time to learn his lines for the Urban Improv laugh party since the band pulled the plug on its spring tour last month. Tom told WZLX-FM’s Carlson & McKenzie yesterday that front man Steven Tyler’s throat had an “overuse injury...like tendonitis” that forced them to cancel shows.
“He had this minor, minor, minor thing done and it went really well,” Hamilton told the morning men.
Actually, Steven’s been telling fans that he burst a blood vessel in his throat that required laser surgery. But why skeeve ’ZLX listeners trying to eat their Cheerios?
Anyway, the band will head back out on tour this fall after spending the summer in the studio recording new Aerotunes, Tom told the Classic Rock crew.
As for his turn as the Leader of the Free World’s mother on stage at Avalon, Tom told C & M he’s used to performing in drag at the “Banned” brouhaha. He’s channeled many famous dames over the years such as Martha Stewart, Julia Child and Camilla Parker-Bowles.
“I think it’s because I’m the guy with the longest hair,” he said.
