Grandparents - they are younger than ever and exploding the myth of grey-haired oldies with new research painting an energetic portrait of the older generation today. According to the Saga Census, a report about the lives, attitudes and behaviour of people aged 50 and over, the notion of the archetypal grandparent is changing fast. Researchers have identified five different types of grandparent, from traditionalists to racy role models, it was revealed today....The five social groups newly identified are adventure seekers; racy role models; hearts of gold; traditionalists and quiet reminiscers....Racy Role Models are often younger grandparents, mostly male, who are still employed and active like Aerosmith's Steven Tyler. They enjoy a varied and active social life enjoying the occasional tipple, flirting and dancing....
Racy Role Model:
He is the archetypal pouting rock star, so the dude certainly don't look like no granddad. But Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, 54, is now a rock and roll grandfather. His daughter, actress Liv Tyler, gave birth to baby Milo last December. "Lord have mercy," he said, "Does that mean I have to change my [polished black] toenail colour?"
