Modern Groove Syndicate was named "Best Jazz Band" in the 2005 Independent Music Awards... That the IMAs can consistently bring in such big talent to judge the final round of the contest – next year's judges include Melissa Etheridge, Aerosmith's Joe Perry, George Clinton and Nickel Creek's Chris Thile - attests to the significance of this relatively new competition. The Music Resource Group, which produces the Musicians Atlas, a go-to sourcebook for active musicians, started the Independent Music Awards in 2000....
