In the winter of 1981, Michael Masley was taking care of a remote fishing lodge in northern Michigan.......He put horse-hair on his fingers and began bowing the steel strings of the cymbalom, the chromatic hammered dulcimer.......
"The cymbalom has got a lot of resonance, and yet there's no limit to the virtuosity you can develop on it," said Masley, whose fans include rocker Steven Tyler, the Aerosmith singer who appears in "Art Officially Favored," a documentary-fiction hybrid that Berkeley filmmaker Martin Yernazian is making about Masley.........
