It Was Quite a Battle to be Top Dog
"It had all the components of a Super Bowl telecast. The live spectacle featured the top competitors strutting their stuff in front of a cheering crowd, lots and lots of commercials, an appearance by Aerosmith and a wardrobe malfunction that might make Janet Jackson blush.
Yes, all of that actually occurred.
It happened Sunday night during the fourth annual AKC Eukanuba National Championship -- a prestigious canine competition -- simulcast live from Tampa, Fla., on both Animal Planet and Discovery Channel....."

The telecast of the finale had other wonderful moments.
It included a sideline report from Leanza Cornett, who thrust a microphone in front of Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry for an unexpected interview. Perry, who has an affinity for German shepherds, attended the two-day event with his family.
'Dogs are part of our lives and part of our families,' he said.
The wardrobe malfunction, of all people, involved the contest judge. The elegantly attired Billings had to interrupt the 'Best in Show' judging almost before it had begun when the small microphone clipped to the lapel of her gown slipped. She signaled for a timeout and made her way to the sideline to retrieve the microphone that had fallen into her undergarment. 'I didn't know we were going to have a burlesque show,' she said with a laugh.
The Super Bowl, of course, is a much grander spectacle.
Yet these championship-bred pooches sure put on a magnificent show."
